I’m confused. Y’all don’t take out the leftover garlic inside the garlic press and just add it back to what you’re cooking? Throwing it out seems so wasteful to me.
I use a small hand-powered food processor. Much easier than either of these. It can be a slight faff scraping the garlic out but much less fiddly than these.

I prep garlic for the freezer so i just throw them into my mini food processor now. But i also peel garlic for 2 hours 😂

I don’t care garlic presses either but I do have and use the garlic crusher. And, if you put the garlic unpeeled in your microwave for 9 seconds it is easier to crush the cloves, but a knife will always work.

well you need to have some semblance of muscle in your arms and hands as well… tbh I just crush my garlic and chop it, beats being lazy.
Look up garlic grater potter but your fingers will get dirty

I discovered years ago that its only bad garlic crushers that waste garlic. Good ones send the whole thing through like its nothing with no waste.

Just peel off the skin, if you crush it with the side of a knife or even your palm on the counter, it’s very easy to remove, if you’re having trouble still you can cut off the ends and it’ll be much easier to peel. Hopefully that can get around the skin issue
You can get the garlic smell off of your hands by rubbing them against your tap (or any other stainless steel surface for that matter)!
I’m pretty sure most garlic presses flip so you can push the excess out

You PEEL the clove before crushing it.
Put your cloves in a dish with enough water to cover the cloves, pop in microwave for 10 seconds and then crush them. It makes it easier. Well for me it does… might help someone else out there. 🙂
What kind of INSANE PERSON doesn’t peel the garlic first. Wtf…
Lay your knife sideways over the garlic, and smack it to crush the garlic. Do a small mince. Much easier and no skin issues. If you’re worried about smelly garlic fingers, salt and lemon on your hands, scrub it in and rinse like you would with onion.
You don’t put peeled garlic in the presser. You just cut off the little butt. That way it doesn’t get stuck and it’s way easier to clean.
I just use a hand grater and leave the root tip intact for holding it
You can still use the garlic that didnt go through the press.
Nothing a big vegetable knife can’t do better

I have the Ikea garlic press and I can usually do 3 at a time and only a little bit of skin is left which easily washes down without touching. I personally love the thing.
